WISSETT, SUFFOLK – Wetherspoons has opened its latest pub in Wissett, Suffolk – complete with toilets located on the roof.
By Our Norfolk Reporter: Ian Bred
At ‘The Dirty Chimney’, the lavatories sit atop the building like a porcelain Everest, reinforcing the long-held belief that Wetherspoons places its toilets at altitudes requiring sherpas and oxygen masks.
The newly opened pub boasts what can only be described as “rooftop relief.” Patrons must scale a rickety ladder to reach the exposed chimney-turned-loo, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the quaint market town.
The fields of East Anglia, and perhaps a glimpse of their own mortality as they cling to the ladder for dear life. Once there, they can rest and, well, do their business, while enjoying the sights. It’s a bathroom break with a view – just don’t look down.
I really need to vertigo
Local roofers have taken to the challenge with ease, but the typical Wetherspoons customer – who’s usually more concerned with the price of a pint than scaling a building – has found it less amusing. “It’s like they’re testing how badly you need to go,” commented one beleaguered regular. “But you’ve got to respect the commitment. Nothing separates the casual drinker from the true Wetherspoons warrior like a hike to the top for a wee.”
The new Pub chain
Despite complaints, ‘The Dirty Chimney’ is already a hit, drawing crowds eager to say they’ve conquered Suffolk’s highest loo. With vertigo now officially on the menu, it seems Wetherspoons has cemented its place as the pub chain for those willing to risk life and limb -for a pint and a panoramic pee.
