Norfolk submarine caught spying on Suffolk again

By Doug Trench, Defence Editor

Norfolk has been caught red-handed spying on Suffolk for the third time in as many weeks.

The county’s crude submarine was spotted off the coast of Aldeburgh, following previous sightings in Southwold and Felixstowe.

“It’s quite clear Norfolk is trying to understand what it is that makes Suffolk so superior,” said Suffolk defence expert Lorraine Fisher, 34.

She added: “But as you can tell from the rather crude equipment in the Suffolk Gazette’s exclusive photograph, Norfolk has a long way to go to catch up.”

The low-budget Norfolk sub was spotted close to Aldeburgh’s coastguard station when the tell-tale periscope popped up 25 yards offshore.

It was spotted by massive Ipswich Town fan Paul Eaton, who was out walking his dog.

He took the photograph on his phone and sent it straight to the Suffolk Gazette newsdesk.

Defence chiefs say they are not concerned about the Norfolk incursions into Suffolk waters.

One said: “They can try and spy on us as much as they like, but they will always be stuck with Great Yarmouth.

“You might say it’s a dive, dive, dive.”
