Pepper the pug is furious that her owner has seen fit to buy her a ridiculous raincoat.

The four-year-old from Orford, Suffolk says she looks ridiculous in the garish garment, which is normally worn by North Sea fishermen.

“I went out when it was raining yesterday and all the dogs in the street laughed at me,” said an indignant Pepper.

“Even the children, who normally say I am cute, were asking their parents why I was dressed like a latex banana.

“This is animal cruelty. I don’t like the rain but my fur is designed to protect me. I don’t need a bloody raincoat, so now I am refusing to go out for a walk.”

Pepper’s owner Lorraine Fisher, 34, has been telling friends that her pet looks so sweet in the raincoat.

“Pepper loves it. You can tell by the grin on her face that she is not at all self-conscious about wearing it on a walk.”
