Britain was getting excited today after waking up to find there is now only one more lockdown until Christmas.

People were hardly able to contain themselves as they realised the countdown to the joyous festivities is getting real.

They hope Monday’s announcement of another national lockdown will signal the last, final push to Christmas.

Excited mum Lorraine Fisher, 34, from Felixstowe, said: “Not so long ago there were several lockdowns until Christmas. Now, before you know it, there is only one.

“Time is flying. I must sort out my early Christmas presents before it’s too late.”

However, local scrooge Steve Walshe said: “I don’t see why anyone is excited for Christmas at all.

“This lockdown will go on for months, and if more than six people can sit down to celebrate Christmas Day together, I’m a mongoose.”
